2012 CAPERS
The 59th annual Cave Capers will be held August 10, 11, and 12th at beautiful Camp Rivervale near Mitchell, Indiana. Camp Rivervale is centrally located to a large number of privately owned vertical and horizontal caves, so plan to get down and dirty (and then decontaminate).
Registration opens at noon Friday (please don't arrive before noon). The campground has lots of shade for comfortable tent camping along with separate quiet and noisy areas. Shop for gear all weekend from the on-site Cave Vendor.
Saturday morning the camp will be serving breakfast (for a fee, and Sunday too!), and we will offer volunteer-led cave trips and "go on your own with directions" excursions to some of Indiana's finest caves. For non-cavers, there is Spring Mill State Park, hiking on the Hoosier National Forest, Bluespring Caverns, the East Fork of White River, many Wineries, and the historic towns of Mitchell and Bedford.
Saturday evening will feature an on-site, professionally catered meal for the banquet. Our entertainment for the evening will start off with the firest round of door prizes, followed by our speaker. Next will be the second round of door prizes followed by some musical entertainment.
Additionally, the campground has a pool that will be available on a limited basis. Pool hours will be posted at registration. RV's are welecome but there are no hook-ups or electricity. This is a church camp, so please be discrete with your adult beverage. Sorry, no pets are allowed this year per camp rules. Rustic cabins and dorms are available through Camp Rivervale at additional fees.
